Master landscape architect Jens Jensen's  monumental  achievement, the 184-acre Garfield Park Conservatory has again been restored to its former shimmering "landscape  art  under glass" status thanks to a benevolent combination of commerce,  politics and Rough Brothers Conservatory Division.

Located  in Garfield Park, lllinois. just minutes south of downtown Chicago, the dome-like steel and wood main structure, the Palm House, was designed by Jensen to "remind visitors of giant Midwestern haystacks." When completed in 1907 the conservatory was consid ered such a novelty that thousands of people a day flocked to the facil ity, as much in awe of the structure as of the plants on exhibit.
